Synopsis
Unal is a village of rice farmers in Guinea-Bissau whose inhabitants were among the first to take up arms in the liberation struggle against Portuguese colonialism, mobilising their ancestral spirits into guerrilla warfare. Today, every gesture of the rice cycle is haunted by the memories of that war, inscribed in rituals, bodies, and landscapes. Winner of the INATEL Foundation Award at DocLisboa 2023.
