Hanami
Synopsis
On the volcanic island of Fogo in Cape Verde, young Nana is left in the care of a community of women after her mother departs unexpectedly, driven away by a mysterious illness. The film follows Nana across different chapters of her childhood and adolescence, up to her eventual reunion with her mother as a teenager. A tender coming-of-age story about absence, belonging, and the bonds forged between women.
