So Small, Looking All Grown Up
Tão Pequeninas Tinham o Ar de Serem Já Crescidas
Synopsis
Drawing on photographic archives and oral testimonies of women from northern Portugal, the film reconstructs the lives of girls sent from rural villages to work as domestic servants in Porto between the 1940s and 1980s. Blending documentary and fictional modes, it rescues from invisibility those who had no time to be children. Selected for IndieLisboa 2024.
